Ultra Site Footer

A footer whose huge closing line gets bolder as the reader turns contrast up, with their own six values drawn as a hexagon they can reset.

/**
 * UltraSiteFooter — a closing line whose weight follows the reader's contrast, their own hexagon, and the links.
 *
 * The closing line is set huge in Google Sans Flex, its weight running 460
 * to 640 with contrast (and its grade and roundness with it). Under it the
 * page's goal and a quieter link, then a card that draws the reader's six
 * values as the kit's hexagon, says whether they follow the system or are
 * saved on this device, and resets them. Columns of real links close it.
 *
* Part of the Ultra kit: an adaptive style whose grammar is the viewer. Every
 * Ultra asset reads six live values (contrast, warmth, light, density, motion,
 * focus) from one shared tuning and re-forms its tone, edges, density and
 * tempo to match: move any Ultra control and every Ultra asset on the page
 * follows. Values the viewer sets are saved on the device (localStorage
 * key ultra:v1); the rest follow the system (prefers-contrast,
 * prefers-reduced-motion, prefers-color-scheme) and the time of day. Nothing
 * is sent anywhere. Every colour is solved for APCA contrast at runtime, so no
 * tuning can make text illegible. Springs are critically damped (no
 * overshoot) and motion 0 swaps states. Type through var(--font-ultra)
 * (Google Sans Flex, whose GRAD and ROND axes follow contrast) over Geist.
 * Paste it as its own file: it carries its own copy of the small engine, and
 * copies on one page share a single store through Symbol.for.

Notes

About this section

The last thing on the page, and the most personal. The closing line is set huge in a variable typeface whose weight follows the reader's contrast: soft at 460, crisp at 640, with grade and roundness moving alongside. Under it sit the page's goal and a quieter link. A small card draws the reader's six values as the kit's hexagon, says whether they are following the system or saved on this device, and resets them in one click. Columns of links close it, over a hairline in the six values' colours.

Curator’s note

Free. The closing line drives Google Sans Flex's weight, grade and roundness axes from the reader's contrast. Every Ultra entry reads the same six values (contrast, warmth, light, density, motion, focus) from one shared store, so a change made in any of them re-forms all of them.
